Clinical Associate Professor Harlan Shiau, DDS, DMed Sc

Harlan Shiau, DDS, DMed Sc, is a clinical associate professor and the director of the postgraduate periodontal program. He completed his DDS from the University of Buffalo and earned his certificate in periodontics at Harvard University, School of Dental Medicine (HSDM). Dr. Shiau completed his Doctorate in Oral Biology at Harvard University and The Forsyth Institute, where he was a NIH/NIDCR Dentist Scientist Award scholar.  Following training he served as a part-time clinical instructor and lecturer at HSDM for two years and maintained a private practice.  Dr. Shiau is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.  His extramural service includes the American Dental Education Association and the American Association of Dental Research.  His research and clinical interests include periodontal medicine/risk assessment, bone regeneration and dental education.
