dh_bachelorsThe Baccalaureate degree (Bachelor of Science) program offers direct patient care within the school of dentistry under dental hygiene faculty plus the opportunity to experience other aspects of dental care. Our students experience patients in an array of special needs areas to give students a well rounded educational foundation.  In addition students experience a plethora of patient care at sites affiliated with our School of Dentistry so we are reaching Marylanders in need of oral health care. Our program, utilizes many means of teaching such online components along with classroom attendance, live clinics and live lab sessions. Students experience interprofessional opportunities

The Dental Hygiene Baccalaureate degree Program is a 2+2 program, which means our students complete 57 pre-requisite credits (freshman and sophomore years of college) at a regionally accredited college or university of their choice and complete their remaining 65 credits of core dental hygiene credits (junior and senior year) here at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, as a junior and senior. Preference may be given to students who have attended a four-year University before attending UMSOD.
