Degree Requirement and Prerequisite Courses
Degree Requirement for admissions: Applicants for the BS/MS Dual Degree CDHL Program must have completed a previous Bachelor’s Degree in another field other than dental hygiene.
Prerequsite courses: All 57 prerequisite credits must be completed by end of Spring semester prior to summer enrollment. The following required courses may be completed at any regionally accredited U.S. college or university. To be considered for admission, students should have completed the majority of the prerequisite courses, including a minimum of 16 credits of the science courses, by the end of December prior to the summer enrollment semester for which they are applying. Please note that students are required to earn at least a C grade in all pre-requisite courses. No grades lower than C will be accepted.
The CDHL Dental Hygiene Program will accept on a case by case basis general credit by examination in the areas of non-science courses such as sociology, psychology, humanities, social sciences and English. The individual must contact the admissions advisor for the specific program of interest for individual advising and review of coursework. It is possible that up to 6-9 credits MAY be acceptable.
Anatomy & Physiology I & II , Microbiology, and Nutrition must have been completed within 7 years of application to CDHL.
General Biology with lab, Inorganic or General Chemistry with lab and Organic and Biochemistry with lab will be accepted without time restrictions.
