UMSOD Professor Combats Chronic Pain by Fighting Fire with Fire
Alumna Karen J. Ivers, DDS ’88, has recently pledged $1.5 million to the University of Maryland School of Dentistry (UMSOD) to endow a professorship supporting academic excellence and discovery-driven research, the fourth endowed professorship at the school since 2015.

UMSOD also offers specialty services for patients with more complex dental needs, including: endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, oral-maxillofacial surgery and orthodontics. An Urgent Care walk-in clinic provides emergency services for patients experiencing pain and swelling.
