Dean's Award for Community Service

During the course of their education at UMSOD, our students on average donate more than 7500 hours of community service. Many UMSOD student clubs and organizations are engaged in service initiatives with community partners throughout Maryland.

The Dean’s Award for Community Service was initiated by students to recognize and promote dedication to community service among students and faculty at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry (UMSOD). The program acknowledges the importance of community service activity among health professionals for the benefit of Maryland residents and the community as well as the professional and personal enrichment of the participants. The community service hours that will qualify for the award must relate to improving the community throughout the state of Maryland. Activities are not limited to those focused on dental education and awareness; however, events that focus on promoting the UMSOD will not qualify.

For information on the criteria needed to earn either the Dean's Award for Community Service or the Dean's Award for Outstanding Community Service at graduation, please refer to the Dean's Community Service Award Information & Form.
