The White Coat Ceremony represents the opportunity for students to articulate their commitment to their chosen profession of dentistry or dental hygiene.
The ceremony formally symbolizes the transition to clinical patient care. Doctor of Dental Surgery and Dental Hygiene students participate in the White Coat Ceremony by taking the oath once they transition to clinic.
During this event, UMSOD students will be welcomed to the profession as clinical colleagues in training. The ceremony will include remarks from alumni and guest speakers. Members of the faculty and colleagues in organized dentistry will present students with their white coat.
