Speaker Biography

Dr. Robert M. Bagoff DMD MAGD DICOI is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson College of Dentistry.  He then completed a General Practice Residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.  From there he became a full-time hospital dentist and teacher in the GPR program at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey.  After two and a half years of Hospital Dentistry he ventured out into private practice in New Jersey but stayed on at the Beth GPR and eventually became the Co-Director of the Department of Dentistry which has a 13 Resident GPR program.

Rob started restoring Branemark implants in 1987 and eventually took the AAID Maxicourse and two-year part time surgical and prosthetic hands-on program at NYU College of Dentistry where today he is one of the Associate Directors.  He achieved Diplomat status in the ICOI and Master of the Academy of the AGD.  Next year he is studying for the AAID exams.

Rob maintains a private practice in West Orange New Jersey with his colleague Dr. Steven M. Levenbrook, an NYU College of Dentistry Honor graduate, graduate of the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center GPR and teaching fellow in the NYU College of Dentistry Part time Surgical and Prosthetic Implant program.  Steven, a life long learner has recently achieved his Fellowship in the AGD.

Rob has lectured throughout the United States on implant prosthetics, guided bone and soft tissue regeneration and Implant treatment planning using CBCT and Studio DTX Implant software.  Most of the Implants placed in their office are using the Studio DTX surgical guide system.

Rob is on staff at two hospitals in Essex County New Jersey and is a mentor to many dentists of all eras of practice.

Course Description

History has shown us that a Panorex and periapical radiograph will be fair diagnostic tools in implant placement. The next generation of diagnostic tools is here and now, CBCT mated with Studio DTX Implant Software.

We look at the occlusal table, the buccal and lingual dimension of the tooth/teeth to be restored clinically and now can overlay the bony topography beneath the soft tissue.

We will download DICOM files, manipulate the data and discuss which implant solutions will best fit the prosthetic solution agreed to by the dentist and the patient. We will use the Smart Fusion to generate a digital tooth for guidance.

The implants will then be placed in the DTX Implant software. We will then follow the seamless pathway to generate a surgical guide if desired.

Both the novice and the experienced surgeon can avail themselves of this technology to enhance the outcome and potentially order a surgical guide based on the treatment plan.

The goals of these diagnostic tools are to craft more conservative flap reflections, enable better implant placement based on a prosthetic solution and decrease the amount of surgical time in the patient's best interest.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the participants should be able to:

  • Identify DICOM files and import them into the software.
  • Process the DICOM files and manipulate them in the software to identify the inferior and alveolar mental foramen floor of the maxillary sinus, incisive cervical height width of the maxillary and mandibular ridges and other vital structures.
  • Diagnose using criteria sites for implant placement.
  • Use Smart Fusion software tooth library to aide in restoratively driven implant placement.
