Institutional Evaluation Request for PASS and Non-PASS Programs
Many UMSOD graduates seek advanced training to enhance their skills and specialize in specific areas.
To support these efforts, the Office of Student Affairs assists students and alumni with applications to residency and post-graduate programs by providing Institutional Evaluations and Dean’s Letters of Recommendation.
PASS is a service by the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) for applying to advanced dental education programs.
PASS PROGRAMS: If you are applying to PASS-participating post-graduate programs, please follow steps 1 and 2. You must complete both steps.
NON-PASS PROGRAMS: Skip step 1 and follow steps 2 and 3.
ADEA PASS STEP:
- Applicants must complete the online PASS e-Form prior to requesting an IE. Please refer to the information made available to ADEA PASS Applicants. Exceptions can be made for applicants applying for phase one residency programs.
- Applicants must complete the online PASS e-Form before requesting an Institutional Evaluation (IE). Exceptions are allowed for phase one residency program applicants.
- Submit an IE request (no. 2 below) within three days after submitting the online PASS request.
- Applicants for AEGD and GPR programs should submit requests on or after August 1. Early submissions will be completed by the deadline but may not be prioritized.
- The University of Maryland School of Dentistry requires applicants to “waive” their right to release information.
SOD Institutional Evaluation Request Step:
2. The Institutional Evaluation Request Form must be completed to request an IE from UMSOD. While a umaryland.edu email is preferred, if you no longer have a umaryland.edu email address please provide your personal email address. The IE form requires candidates to upload a recent curriculum vitae (CV).
Currently enrolled students: In completing the Institutional Evaluation Request Form, please note the following, please wait for final grades to be processed to ensure the most up-to-date GPA/class rank data is used.
Non-PASS Postgraduate Programs Step:
- For non-PASS postgraduate programs, applicants must include name of program, program director, program address, email address where the IE should be sent, and a deadline date in the NonPASS
Processing Time
Please allow four (4) weeks to process your request. Requests are handled by program deadlines, not request dates. Specialty programs have earlier deadlines than GPRs.
Please note that requests with deadlines under three weeks cannot be guaranteed.
