Speaker Biography

Lea Morgan, OTR/LLea Morgan is a pediatric occupational therapist with 25 years of clinical experience. Since 2003 Lea has worked exclusively in the pediatric setting, primarily in public schools. She is passionate about helping children become as successful and independent as possible using simple strategies to support their development. 

Lea co-founded Hands On Therapy, PSC in 2007 to provide students in rural areas with skilled contract therapy services including occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy.

During the COVID pandemic, when schools were closed, Lea founded Sensory Informed Pediatric Practice CEUs (SIPP) to educate other professionals about Sensory Processing Disorder and to increase positive community experiences for children with SPD. Lea graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy, in June 1998.

Course Description

Have you noticed an increase in atypical behaviors and responses from your patients? Are you struggling with disrupted visits due to patient discomfort? Sensory Processing Disorder is more prevalent in children than autism, and as common as ADHD. Understanding SPD will help you make adjustments in your practice, to increase positive outcomes.

  • Introduction - Including why this information is applicable to dental professionals
  • Overview of Sensory Processing - What is it and why a dental office is such a challenging environment for children with SPD
  • Eight Specific Areas of Sensory Processing Disorder - Including how to support weaknesses in each area during a dental visit
  • Additional Considerations for the Dental Professional - Including info on waiting room, social stories, intake information, dental fear and being proactive
