Speaker Biography

Amanda Ribeiro Wobido, DDS, MSDr. Wobido is a clinical instructor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center – College of Dentistry. She was a visiting research assistant at UNMC – College of Dentistry in 2019, in which she worked with Dr. Luana Oliveira-Haas on a Diversity Grant focused on NCCLs. She is also a member and researcher of the Noncarious Lesions Research Group in Uberlandia – Brazil, where she received her master’s degree.

Course Description

The prevalence of noncarious cervical lesions (NCCLs) has increased in the past years because of changes in lifestyle and population aging. This course will offer a complete discussion of NCCLs, covering all the clinical aspects with the best evidence available. The different etiological factors will be presented, focusing on their role in lesion development and progression. The course will also cover the risk factors, relation to dentin hypersensitivity, strategies to prevent, and protocols for the comprehensive management/treatment of NCCLs.

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the prevalence and etiology of NCCLs.
  • Identify risk factors in the development of NCCLs.
  • Describe NCCLs classification, clinical signs, and symptoms.
  • Understand the relation between NCCLs and dentin hypersensitivity.
  • Compare treatment options for different clinical scenarios.
  • Apply strategies for prevention and comprehensive management of NCCLs.
