Summer Opportunities
After your D1 and D2 Years

Participate in a Global Interprofessional Learning Opportunity: Consider applying to participate in the UMB Center for Global Engagement global grant projects. If your clinic and other academic schedules permit, you are encouraged to submit applications to participate.

Eligibility: Students in good academic standing are eligible to apply. Specifics about eligibility will be announced with each opportunity.

Application timeline: Generally open in mid-fall semester for the upcoming summer.

Estimated cost: The amount of student scholarship funds varies by project.

During your D4 Year
- Participate in an Oral Healthcare Systems Observation Program: Jiaotong University College of Stomatology
- Participate in Clinical Care Program: Rotary International in the Dominican Republic
- Eligibility: Students in good academic standing are eligible to apply. Specifics about eligibility will be announced with each opportunity.
- Application deadline: Various, generally is announced to eligible students between four- to six-months prior to departure. Check your UMSOD email, or this webpage, for up-to-date information.
- Estimated cost: The amount of student grants varies by project. The Barry Rosenthal ’78 scholarship covers round-trip coach airfare from the Baltimore/D.C. area to the host country.
Additional expenses such as accommodations, visa fees, required vaccinations/travel consultations, in-country transportation, meals, and incidentals will be the responsibility of the student, unless otherwise specified in the project description. Fees for airline cancellation or schedule changes made for discretionary reasons after the ticket is purchased also are the responsibility of the student. - Questions: Please email Kate Noonan.
