The American Association for Dental Research announced in February that Steven Feldman, a student at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry is one of two recipients of the 2016 Student Advocate of the Year Award.
In a letter of congratulations, Dr. David Johnsen, chair of the American Association for Dental Research Government Affairs Committee indicated his appreciation for their tenacity in the continued challenging budget climate and their ability to urge Congress to increase federal funding for dental, oral and craniofacial research.

The award was presented recently on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., and a total of 16 students from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry joined the American Association for Dental Research group at the event.

Feldman is helping coordinate a lobbying day on Capitol Hill through his involvement with the American Student Dental Association. That event is planned for April 12. A link to more information can be found on the School of Dentistry Student Affairs home page.
