Each year, the School of Dentistry and the other institutions of the University System of Maryland are invited to submit nominations for honorary doctoral degrees.

Honorary doctoral degree candidates are generally recognized for their achievements and distinction in the sciences (Doctor of Science), public service (Doctor of Public Service), or other areas (such as Doctor of Humane Letters).

Any faculty member of the School of Dentistry community can make a nomination.
