Speaker Biography

After dental school, Dr. David Mazza completed a two-year post-doctoral training in the field of “Advanced Study in Operative and Esthetic Dentistry” at Boston University. He was awarded "Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study" (CAGS). 

Dr. Mazza, a Clinical Assistant Professor and has served as a volunteer Deans Faculty member at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry since 2000.

He provided the first- and second-year residents of post-graduate AEGD program with 36 hours of Aesthetics-related seminars and hands-on training. He is the course director for “Aesthetic Dentistry” and “Dental Implants” for D3 and D4 students, Elective Presentations, affiliated to Office of Academic Affairs, University of Maryland, School of Dentistry. 

Dr. Mazza provides nationwide continuing education presentations at Dental Schools, Symposiums and Study Clubs.

Dr. Mazza is a:

  • Board-Certified Diplomate at ICOI (International Congress of Oral Implantologists),
  • Board-Certified Diplomate at the American Board of Aesthetic Dentistry (ABAD),
  • AAED (American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry) Associate Member (by invitation),

Course Description

Aesthetic Dentistry is the gateway to enhancing patient’s lives, and with the same token having a fun and fulfilling practice. Creating an atmosphere of relaxation by providing patients the ability to enjoy an aesthetically pleasing result, a way better-personalized look, enhancing their chewing ability and simultaneously making sure the results will last long.

A skillful practitioner needs to be familiar with dental anomalies and their treatment, concepts of color and shade matching and selection, periodontal aesthetics, the role of lips and lip-line, photography and smile evaluation and treatment planning, concepts of occlusion, dental materials and selection of appropriate restorative modality, bonding to different media, phonetics, etc. that will be reviewed during this course.

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Diagnose aesthetic problem(s) and proper treatment planning,
  • Have knowledge of color and shade matching/selection to avoid shade mismatch,
  • Take professional photos, after editing utilizing them on Smile Design Software,
  • Diagnose periodontal aesthetic problems and provide proper treatment planning,
  • Implement “Occlusion” principles to assure long-lasting results,
  • Select dental material for different clinical situations
