Dental Hygiene Annapolis

A contingent of students and faculty from  the Dental Hygiene program at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry participated in  The Maryland Dental Hygienists' Association Advocacy Day February 25 in Annapolis.

Students learned about the intricacies of the Maryland General Assembly including the process of enacting legislation, what is involved with giving testimony, how house and senate hearings are conducted and also were able to advocate for the profession of dental hygiene and furthering access to oral health care for all Marylanders. Legislators expressed interest in dental hygiene concerns and the profession of dental hygienists and were very welcoming to the students, faculty and hygienists attending.

In all, about 180 people were in attendance at the event.
