Clinical Assistant Professor Sharon Colvin earned her DDS from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 1986. After graduation, she began a 10-year career as a Dental Corps officer in the U.S. Navy. After her Navy service, Dr. Colvin continued her dental career with the Virginia Department of Public Health and later with the Virginia Department of Corrections. In 2000, she launched a private general dentistry practice in Chesapeake, Va., which she owned for 12 years. She is an active member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association and the Northern Virginia Dental Society. She is an elected member of the Virginia Dental Association’s Fellows Honor Society. She has served as president of the Tidewater Dental Association and as chair of the Council on Sessions for the 2009 Virginia Meeting. Currently, Colvin serves as an assistant general practice director in the Department of General Dentistry.
