Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) is the national dental honor society. Founded in 1914, OKU now has approximately 60 chapters at dental schools in the U.S. and Canada.
The University of Maryland School of Dentistry's Phi Chapter of OKU was founded in 1929. Membership is by election and limited to those dental students and faculty members who have distinguished themselves by excellence in scholarship, while demonstrating exemplary traits of character and potential qualities for future professional growth and attainments.
