Operative Dentistry is that portion of the profession which deals with the treatment of missing or malformed portions of teeth caused by tooth decay (caries), trauma, discoloration or unusual development.​

The Division of Operative Dentistry supports the teaching program in General Dentistry by providing preclinical and clinical instruction to predoctoral and postdoctoral students in the discipline of contemporary Operative Dentistry. ​

The division  is a community of creative dentists, talented scholars and dedicated staff focused on advancing the education, research, clinical care, and service missions of the Department of General Dentistry.​
