The faculty of the department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery are engage in a variety of research programs geared towards a better understanding diseases involving both the functional and esthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral-maxillofacial/head & neck region.

  • Dr. Tao Lowe Lab

    Dr. Lowe’s Biomaterials for Translational Research Laboratory. Our research group focuses on innovative bionanotechnology, drug and gene delivery, regenerative medicine, precision medicine, neural engineering, stem cell engineering, contraception, and biosensoring.

  • Opioid Analgesic Reduction Study (OARS)

    The Oral Surgery Department of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry is one of five dental schools participating in research on the combination of ibuprofen and acetaminophen as an alternative to opioids.
