Monocacy Health Partners Dental Clinic
Monocacy Health Partners Dental Clinic is allied with the Frederick Regional Health System, which runs a community-based hospital (Frederick Memorial Hospital). Monocacy Health Partners Dental Clinic serves patients who are uninsured, under-insured, or who have limited means to pay for Dental Services offering a sliding fee schedule based upon 200% of the federal poverty level.
The goal of the Monocacy Health Partners Dental Clinic is to provide both urgent and comprehensive Dental Services for adults of Frederick County.
The Monocacy Health Partners Dental Clinic will provide an adequate patient base to our students because the demand for dental services in Frederick (Maryland’s second largest city) exceeds the existing dental health care capacity, especially for underinsured populations. The clinic provides our students with an enriched community-based learning experience involving the interaction with and treatment of a diverse patient population.
Referrals to the dental clinic come from a diverse cross-section of the Frederick County community. Additionally, underinsured and underserved dental patients often present to the Frederick Memorial Hospital Emergency Department. Between FY12-FY14 the Emergency Department treated 2,347 unique patients and had 2,911 encounters. With on-site dental services patients will have the opportunity to receive interventional rather than palliative therapy.
The Monocacy Health Partners dental clinic has five operatories; three of which are plumbed for nitrous oxide and have a computer. The clinic also has a lunch/conference room, front desk/business area, patient waiting area and two laptops will be available for student use. Staffing consists of: 1 Receptionist; 2 Dental Assistants; and 1 Dental Office Manager.
