Speaker Biography

Michael Pruett, DMD Dr. Michael Pruett, DMD, is Assistant Professor in the department of Restorative Sciences and the Director of Continuing Education for the Dental College of Georgia. He received his DMD from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry, and then completed a two-year General Practice Residency at the University of Virginia. Upon completion, he became the Director of Dentistry at Mount Sinai Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. While in Hartford he also served as the Assistant Program Director of the General Practice Residency at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.

Dr. Pruett has placed and restored dental implants for the last 29 years and maintains an active practice within the Dental College of Georgia. He is the co-director of the Augusta University / American Academy of Implant Dentistry Maxi-Course and several other hands-on continuing dental education courses at Augusta University. Dr. Pruett lectures nationally and internationally on a variety of topics.

Course Description

In this lecture we will review and become familiar with drugs that impact the daily general practice. We will discuss how to evaluate new drugs and potential effects in dental practice.

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, participants will:

  1. Recognize drugs, new and established that impact dental care.
  2. Develop strategies for managing patients related to their drug therapy.
  3. Review the analgesics and antibiotics most appropriate for the dental practice.
