In the early 1900’s Herbal Supplements were the hallmark of the pharmaceutical industry. About 67% of all medicine listed in the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) were botanicals. Now only 2% of all entries in the USP are botanicals. With the cost of rising health care, and a shift towards self-medicating, the consumer demand for 100% natural products has increased dramatically. This Course will review the most common/y used herbs and natural substances. It will also provide you with information on drug herb interactions and unsafe herbs and natural supplements.
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the differences between Holistic and Complementary Medicine.
- Know the definition of Herbal supplements
- Understand the science behind the herbal and natural supplements
- Recognize herbal/ drug interactions
