The University of Maryland School of Dentistry (UMSOD) has launched the first complimentary continuing education series for alumni. On March 7, 40 alumni attended the first of two free CE courses UMSOD will offer this spring.

The course, "Achieving Predictability through Simplicity in Implant Dentistry," was presented by Robert Jaffin, DMD. Using detailed case presentations, Jaffin explained biologic and mechanical concepts that lead to predictable implant results. "It was a wonderful course that was very in-depth. This is a great opportunity for alumni to earn CE credits at a huge discount," says Francine Unger, DDS '87.

After attending the course, the alumni enjoyed an exclusive tour of the School of Dentistry. They were impressed by the simulation labs and the Dream Room, where students learn about the latest advancements in dentistry. "It is fun to come back to the school and see the new facility. Being in the lecture hall again, it reminds me of the fundamental reasons I decided to become a dentist," states Jeffery Herrell, DDS '87.

"Offering complimentary continuing education courses for our alumni is one way we are saying 'thank you' for their support. This is an opportunity for the School of Dentistry to reconnect with our outstanding alumni," remarks Interim Dean Mark A. Reynolds, DDS '86, PhD.

The next complimentary CE course, "A Multimillion-Dollar Practice - How to Build It and Enjoy It," will be presented by Norman Bartner, DDS, on Saturday, April 5. Click here to register online. The only cost for alumni is a nominal $20 fee for lunch and refreshments. The fees for non-alumni dentists and non-alumni team members are $495 and $175, respectively.
