Vendor Expo Showcases Technology for Students

Written by Adam Zewe

The University of Maryland School of Dentistry held its second annual vendor expo on Monday, Dec. 10.

More than 100 students and residents packed the Grand Atrium, meandering between vendor displays, gathering samples of dental supplies and learning about the latest technology from company representatives. The expo, organized by the Office of Institutional Advancement, presented a wealth of vital information, from dental implants to different sizes and styles of loupes.

Robert Geiman, DDS, a first-year orthodontics resident, visited the expo to try out loupes from the various different loupe vendors at the event. "This is a great opportunity for students to talk to different companies they'll be working with in the future," states Geiman.

Rami Tahhan, DDS '13, attended the expo to see new materials that he can incorporate into his future practice. "Students need to be aware of all the different companies and products that are out there on the market so we can get a better idea of what will work best for our patients," Tahhan remarks.
