Merit Scholarship Winner Profile: Lisa D'Affronte, DDS '12

Written by Adam Zewe

Dean Christian S. Stohler congratulates Lisa D'Affronte, DDS '12, for earning four merit scholarships. D'Affronte received Dean's Excellence, Gaylord, Russell Gigliotti Memorial and Ronald M. Starr Family scholarships. "It is really great to be recognized for all my hard work. I'm proud of myself," she remarks.

D'Affronte, of Manalapan, N.J., chose dentistry because she wants a career where she can help people. She enjoys the opportunity to work one-on-one with patients in the school clinics. D'Affronte provides care for a drug rehabilitation program that helps patients get back on their feet. She finds their gratitude particularly rewarding. "I enjoy being able to have a personal hand in making someone's life better," states D'Affronte.

After graduation, she plans to complete an advanced general dentistry residency and then establish a private practice in the Baltimore area. Scholarships assist students with educational debt, allowing them to achieve career goals sooner. D'Affronte looks forward to being a caring and influential member of her community.

A self-described "foodie," D'Affronte enjoys eating out with friends and trying new foods, as well as reading and running. When she's not busy studying, she is planning for her wedding, to Chris Nobis, in September.
