Vendor Expo Exhibits Latest Technology

Written by Adam Zewe

More than 300 students and faculty members explored an array of cutting-edge dental products during the School of Dentistry Vendor Expo on Dec. 12. Nineteen vendors from across the country demonstrated instruments or shared information with attendees.

Students crowded around vendor display tables on the ground floor and in the Grand Atrium. Raquel Brentson, DDS '14, enjoyed getting an up-close look at different loupes offered by the four optics companies at the expo. "It's a lot easier to make an informed decision if you can see them side by side and try them on," she said.

In the Grand Atrium, attendees gathered bags full of giveaways as they browsed products on display, from electric toothbrushes to dentures. For Elyce Saucier, DDS '13, the expo provided a unique opportunity to learn about the equipment necessary for a successful practice. "It is nice to see these dental products and services before graduation, because it will be here before I know it," she states.

The expo concluded with a raffle, which was a fundraiser for the Student Dental Association (SDA). Raffle prizes, which were donated by vendors, included Oakley sunglasses, an iPad and a Kindle. An outstanding success, the expo exposed students to the latest products in dentistry in a fun and exciting way, explains SDA President Juheon Seung, DDS '13.
