Dr. Mark Reynolds Named Interim Dean

Professor Mark Reynolds, MA, DDS '86, PhD, chairman of the Department of Periodontics, has been named interim dean of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. He will assume his new role on July 15. Dr. Reynolds will serve as interim dean until a national search is concluded and a new dean has been named.

Dr. Reynolds joined UMSOD in 1996 as assistant professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Periodontics. Since 2001, he has served as director of the advanced dental education program in periodontics. Dr. Reynolds has served as chairman of the Department of Periodontics since 2005.

A distinguished academic dentist, Dr. Reynolds has authored more than 200 scholarly publications and serves as a director on the American Board of Periodontology.

As Dr. Reynolds takes on his new role as interim dean, he has appointed Dr. Mary Elizabeth Aichelmann-Reidy as the new program director in the advanced dental education program in periodontics. Dr. Aichelmann-Reidy is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology as well as a Board Examiner.
