Today, thousands of institutions in 140 countries deliver e-Education services through Blackboard's suite of enterprise systems. The University of Maryland is among the many institutions using this educational tool for instruction. The Dental School has several faculty using this resource for the presentation and enhancement of their instruction. In order to access BlackBoard you must have a UMnet account. If you don't already have a UMnet account (campus email), you will need one. To do this, stop by the Assistance and Service Center (ASC) Help Desk in HS/HSL Room LL06 for an application - or - go to http://www.umaryland.edu/helpdesk/apps/. Submit the form to the ASC Help Desk or fax the form to x64191. Forms submitted in person to the ASC Help Desk are processed while-you-wait. Otherwise, allow one business day for processing. You can pick up your ID and password at the ASC Help Desk after showing proper identification. Your Blackboard ID will be the same as your UMnet ID. Your temporary Blackboard password is your student number. Note: Dashes in the student/employee number should be omitted. To log onto BlackBoard go to http://blackboard.umaryland.edu . Once logged on, select the course you are enrolled in or responsible for (faculty) and this will bring up numerous menu options on the left side of the screen. It is suggested that you take the brief BlackBoard tutorial to familiarize you with how BlackBoard operates. To begin the tutorial, click on Student Tools and then Manual.
