The Office of Information Technology (OIT) in partnership with UMB campus Center for Information Technology Services (CITS) is eager to provide IT support and services in our state-of-the-art facility.  Strategically assigned IT Support Areas for your convenience are listed below.

The Dental School’s Help Desk, Ground Floor, M-F, 8-5, G426 (6-2084 or dshelp@umaryland.edu) is prepared to swiftly document and assist with your IT needs and your visit is always welcomed.  Our goal is to serve our dental community with pride and diligence in our Adiministrative Clinical and Educational Environments.  Check out and support for laptops and desktops is available.

The following details concerning the services provided will assist you in obtaining the technical support you need.

Educational Technology Center (ETC):


ETC strives to deliver world-class education that addresses diverse learning styles and supports a customizable and modular curriculum. Support is available for faculty use of
Blackboard, the online assessment application, Questionmark, the lecture capture application, Mediasite, and a variety of additional web based tools that assist in developing online learning modules.  Assistance with planning and integrating multimedia into the curriculum is also available.  On-line tutorials for faculty and students on all the educational applications are provided through this center. For issues concerning Blackboard, Questionmark and Mediasite, please process all requests for assistance through the HELPdesk 6-2084 or dshelp@umaryland.edu

Student Technology Center (STC): 


The STC invites students to a relaxing, spacious environment where access to the internet, printing needs, document scanning as well as hands-on technology instruction is available. Also provided are support for student laptops including loaners when students encounter technical issues.

Location: 5th floor, Room 5250
Hours: 8:00 - 5:00 M – F

Room Resources Currently Available:
Desk top computers, networked and wireless access points, slide and radiographic scanners, Pay-for-Print station, Mac PC, cart with laptop and large screen projector.

Media Room


Our lecture halls are equipped with intuitive touch screen technology to enable faculty to control their presentations.  Video cameras are located in the front and rear of the lecture hall and can be used in conjunction with Mediasite, our lecture capture system that captures audio, video and anything processed through the computer.  Captured lectures are available through Blackboard by clicking on the Mediasite Catalog link 24 x 7.  This area on the ground floor provides assistance with lecture hall and conference room technology, video production and Mediasite. For assistance, please process all requests for checkout and assistance through the HELPdesk 6-2084 or dshelp@umaryland.edu

2 Instructional Technology/Media Specialists

Need a Classroom for your presentation

Directions for accessing the campus classroom inventory.
  Use this tool to electronically find a classroom based on location, size, features and technology.  This inventory lists all the technology available on campus and in the various lecture hall and conference rooms in the Dental School.  Actual room reservations can be made from by contacting Memory Jackson mjackson@umaryland.edu or James Camper jcamper@umaryland.edu .  It is suggested you check availability via Outlook for the Dental School's lecture halls and conference rooms before contacting these individuals to schedule your space.

OIT Offices and Dental School Help Desk


OIT offices and the Dental School Help Desk are located on the ground floor to provide comprehensive services.  Any server, network, desktop, Help Desk, clinical applications related issue as well as email support is available here.  Passwords, Swipe cards, VPN access, and software application support services for Digital Radiology (Romexis), Orthodontic application, Dolphin and clinic financial applications, axiUm, are a few of the myriad of services users will recieve from the staff in this area.  Please stop in at any time for assistance.  If you want to be assured of the right staff resource being available, please contact the HELPdesk 6-2084 or email
