The Diagnostic Sciences Review

This course will include the latest findings in head and neck cancer. It will include the diagnosis and treatment of contemporarily significant oral disorders. Diagnostic procedures will be discussed as well as the treatment of many disorders.

Upon completion of this course the participants should be able to:

  • Recognize the early signs and symptoms of numerous forms of pathology affecting the head and neck
  • Describe various ways to biopsy oral lesions
  • Describe the diagnosis and treatment of selected disorders affecting the head and neck
  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of bone disorders affecting the head and neck
  • Describe treatment and its modifications for patients.

Practice Logic: Be Informed before You Perform

Getting tired of a cookbook approach to treatment? This hands-on, interactive workshop will introduce cutting-edge technology with new treatment approaches that will enable you to maximize patient care and decrease personal burnout. Key topic areas will include: hand and power instrumentation, gaining access to challenging areas, new designs in debridement instruments, sharpening techniques, magnifcation and visual enhancement, ergonomics and implant care. Participants will be exposed to dental school simulation lab while acquiring hands-on experience of the information gathered during the morning session.

Upon completion of this course the participants should be able to:

  • Experience how new designs in debridement instruments, visual enhancement, ergonomics and fiber optic technology can enhance the delivery of patient care
  • Identify the specific features of periodontal instruments that provide improved acess and effective adaptation for difficult to reach areas
  • Recognize how treatment area organization, instrument selection. sharpening techniques, casette packaging and other logistical abd peak performance concepts can enhance effective patient care delivery
  • Incorporate techniques to preserve the integrity of implants through effective instrumentation and the integration of desirable home-care aids
