|Leonard Spector, DDS '81|
Dr. Spector was born and raised in Lawrence, Mass. He received his bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Vermont in 1977. He then attended the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, earning his DDS magna cum laude in 1981 while gradating second in his class. Dr Spector completed a residency in oral & maxillofacial surgery from the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. in 1984. Following residency, he was in private practice for 25 years in Towson and Owings Mills, Md., prior to joining the Maryland Center for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2009. He frequently lectures to various local dental-related groups and has spoken nationally and internationally on topics ranging from dental implants to cosmetic facial surgery.
He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Fellow of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and member of numerous national professional dental organizations including the American Dental Association, the Middle Atlantic Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Maryland State Dental Association.
Dr. Spector is the current president of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is a member of the Dean’s Faculty at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and is the division chief of oral & maxillofacial surgery at the Franklin Square Hospital Center.
