|Julius Hyatt, DDS '84|
Dr. Hyatt was born and raised in Baltimore, Md. He received his undergraduate bachelor of science degree at UM College Park in 1980. He then attended the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, earning his DDS in 1984. From 1984 to 1986 he completed a one-year general practice residency in dentistry, and then spent an additional year of training in anesthesiology at the Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Fla. Returning to Baltimore, he completed a four-year residency, and received his certificate in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery from the Johns Hopkins Hospital and the University of Maryland in 1990.
He is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon (Diplomate, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery), Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Fellow of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Fellow of the American College of Dentists and member of numerous national professional dental organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Middle Atlantic Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Maryland State Dental Association.
Currently, he is the chief of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC). He is a former board member of the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners and the Northeast Regional Board of Dental Examiners. He is a past-president of the Baltimore County Dental Association. Dr. Hyatt has served as the principal investigator in numerous research studies involving the development of pain medications. Baltimore Magazine has noted him many times as one of the area’s outstanding oral and maxillofacial surgeons.
Finally, Dr. Hyatt is a member of the Dean’s Faculty at UMSOD; he enjoys teaching and sharing his experiences in dentistry with the graduate and undergraduate students.
Outside of dentistry, his hobbies and interests include golf, skiing, still and video photography. He enjoys spending time outside the office with his wonderful wife Barbara, daughters Allison and Anna, and son Jacob.
