The internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Maryland was difficult and pushed me beyond my limits every day. Without this experience, I would not have had all the opportunities to continue my career in oral surgery. I owe everything to the lessons I learned during my time at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
Internship Graduate 2010
The University of Maryland Medical Center, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery offeres a one year internship with responsibilities identical to those of the categorical first year residents; including clinical and didactic responsibilities. This includes call at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, a robust implant experience, participation in OR cases, and staffing outpatient dentoalveolar clinics. The patient management experience gained from the variety of conditions treated in the unit will be invaluable as continued path to pursue a career in oral-maxillofacial surgery. A well rounded didactic schedule which includes a physical diagnosis course compliments the clinical experience at Maryland. Interns receive a salary at the PGY-1 level and all interns are required to be on campus for an orientation two weeks before the July 1st start date.
