Mark A. Strauch, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of Microbial Pathogenesis in the School of Dentistry and on the faculty of the Graduate Program in Life Sciences at the University of Maryland, The Founding Campus. Dr. Strauch received his bachelor’s degree in Biology from Purdue University and his Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan (1983). Following postdoctoral training at Purdue under Arthur Aronson and at the Research Institute of the Scripps Clinic under James A. Hoch, Dr. Strauch became Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular and Experimental Medicine at the Scripps Research Institute (1992). He moved to Maryland in 1998 take a position as associate professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the school of dentistry. He has been in the Department of Microbial Pathogenesis since its formation in 2008.
