Applications

The Department’s Mission Statement, to improve the quality of life for Maryland residents through excellence and leadership in the education of oral health care providers, evidence-based clinical care, research, health policy, community outreach and service, clearly reflects this emphasis.

The Department of Health Promotion and Policy also allows the integration of clinical activities and combining didactic activities that was not possible before. For instance, the new Department assumes the role for teaching adolescent dentistry, something that the old structures had previously ignored. The new Department also has the critical mass of people and resources to expand its scope by bringing in new investigators and developing new programs.
