The University of Maryland Dental Hygiene Program welcomes you!
Housed at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, the program provides a state of the art teaching facilty, innovative faculty and cutting edge technology in a professional networking environment. Being on the Founding campus affords our students opportunities on a professional campus, located in Baltimore which serves it's neighboring communities in various outreach activities answering the call to serve all Marylanders.
The Division of Dental Hygiene offers the only Bachelor of Science programs in Maryland. UMSOD offers the Baccalaureate (BS) degree for students seeking to become dental hygienists at the BS level, and the degree completion program for dental hygienists who earned their AS degree and desire their BS degree. The University of Maryland School of Dentistry, Dental Hygiene program offers the only Master of Science program in dental hygiene in Maryland. These programs prepare dental hygienists for a variety of career options including clinical practice, public health, education and research and leadership. Our programs enable our graduates to become the future leaders providing and furthering access to care and to contribute to the overall health of Marylanders by collaborating with other healthcare professionals in dentistry and medicine.
The University of Maryland School of Dental Hygiene also has a satellite program; our School of Dentistry Site in Perryville Maryland. Answering the call to access to care in underserved areas, students from this area can do all their clinical education at Perryville with UMB Dental Hygiene faculty, while doing their didactic education using online technology of live video-feed and online capabilities such as Mediasite and Blackboard Collaborate. Our program is a hybrid learning environment for Baltimore and satellite students. Open up your opportunities here at The University of Maryland School of Dentistry, Dental Hygiene Program!
