The overall goal of the Master of Science program is to prepare dental hygienists to assume positions of responsibility beyond those assumed by the baccalaureate graduate and to provide a foundation for doctoral level study.   Program concentrations in education, management and community/institutional health prepare graduates for leadership roles in these settings.

The Masters level graduate will learn to:

  • Participate in design, coordination, instruction, and evaluation in dentally related educational programs;


  • Participate in the planning, design, coordination, implementation and evaluation of a variety of private or public oral health care delivery programs;


  • Participate in designing, funding, conducting, managing and evaluating research projects; and


  • Demonstrate enhanced levels of competency and proficiency in patient care related areas.
