The Dental School is an integral part of this campus for the professions. Located on 24.6 acres in downtown Baltimore, the campus began in 1807 with the founding of the School of Medicine. The Baltimore College of Dental Surgery began in 1840. Today, these two schools share the campus with the schools of law, nursing, pharmacy, social work, and graduate studies. The University of Maryland Medical System and the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center are health care partners located within the urban campus. The University educates a majority of the region's health care, legal, and social service practitioners. UMB's location in the booming Baltimore-Washington-Annapolis triangle maximizes the opportunities for collaboration with government agencies, health care institutions, and life sciences industries. |
