The Student Research Group The Student Research Group (SRG) is an organization committed to addressing the research interests of the student body through the dissemination of information about resources and opportunities. Yearly, the SRG composes a list of faculty who are willing to serve as mentors and provide students with an opportunity for research experience. In addition, the SRG also distributes information relevant to research activities and opportunities on a state and national level, as well as pertinent seminars and scholarships. Mission statement: We here at the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery SRG feel that our role is to provide a bridge between dental students and the multitude of research opportunities available at our school. We not only encourage and educate students about the active and ongoing research in which they may participate here at BCDS, we also provide research opportunities in the form of monthly journal clubs and lunch and learn opportunities focused on clinical research. Our ultimate goal is to reinforce the idea and practice that dental research is not simply an activity which takes place by academicians off of the clinic floor, but is a palpable and salient force which should be driving our clinical decisions. Thus, the major goal of the SRG is to function as both a resource and forum for students interested in research.
